As movies and books featuring apocalyptic themes emerge in greater numbers it is hard not to be caught up in the grim visions and bleak futures today’s artists are painting. The apocalypse is – and has always been – a theme that feeds on the fears of humanity. The end.
It can only be devastating and it can only mean death and destruction. In and of itself it is a brutal and horrifying prospect, the end of everything, the end of art, the end of culture, the end. It is however a fascinating subject and has offered many scenarios that might bring about the end.
